Clotilde Countess of Nassau-Merenberg

Clotilde, Countess of Nassau-Merenberg, or rather Elisabeth Clotilde Countess von Merenberg (b. 14 May 1941 in in Wiesbaden, Germany) is the last real descendant of the lineage Nassau, in a direct (male) line and legal. She is the daughter of Count George von Merenberg (1897–1965) and Elisabeth Müller-Uri. Clotilde is a psychiatrist. In 1965, she married Dr. Enno von Rintelen (b. 9 November 1921 in Berlin-Charlottenburg), a gynecologist. They have three sons: Alexander Enno (b. 23 March 1966 in Wiesbaden), Georg Nikolaus (b. 29 June 1970 in Wiesbaden, Germany) and Gregor (b. 13 August 1972 in Wiesbaden, Germany).

The Counts of Merenberg descend in a morganatic, but legal, way from Prince Nikolaus Wilhelm of Nassau (1832–1905) who married Natalia Pushkin in 1868 (Russian nobility; daughter of the poet Alexander S. Pushkin). Prince Nicolas was a great-grandson of Prince Charles Christian, Prince of Nassau-Weilburg, 1735–1788, who married in 1760 Princess Carolina of Orange-Nassau, the daughter of the Dutch Stadtholder William IV and Anne, Princess Royal and Princess of Orange of the United Kingdom, 1707 - 1759. Clotilde Countess von Merenberg is also a great-granddaughter of the Russian Emperor Alexander II.
