Clifton Daniel III is the residing Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of East Carolina. He is the seventh bishop to serve the diocese.

Biography
Education
Bishop Daniel was born in Goldsboro, North Carolina, on July 4, 1947. He attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, graduating in 1969 with a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish Education. He earned his Master of Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, Virginia in 1972. He was granted honorary Doctor of Divinity degrees from both Virginia Theological Seminary in 1997 and the University of the South in 1998.
Vocational Milestones
Bishop Daniel was ordained to the diaconate in June 1972, and then to the priesthood in April 1973. In 1996 he was elected and consecrated Bishop Coadjutor of the diocese. Following the death of The Rt. Rev. B. Sidney Sanders, he became Diocesan Bishop in June, 1997.
Family and Personal Life
In August, 1978, Bishop Daniel married Anne William Miller. The couple has three daughters—Margaret Daniel Pickron,(husband, Norman Pickron); Elizabeth Daniel Zajac, (husband,Jared Zajac); and Charlotte Holloman Daniel. Bishop Daniel and his wife live in Greenville, North Carolina.
