Claude Clegg is a historian who specialises in the history of the African diaspora in the Americas. He is currently the department chair of the Indiana University history department.
Clegg holds a Ph.D. from the University of Michigan. He has written two books An Original Man: The Life and Times of Elijah Muhammad and The Price of Liberty: African Americans and the Making of Liberia.
Clegg is currently working on a book about a lynching in a small North Carolina town. Clegg recently taught a history seminar at Indiana University on the civil rights movement.[when?]
