Personal life
Claire Pettibone was born in New York to artist parents. Her father was a pioneer in the Appropriation Movement. As a child, her parents assigned small art projects and encouraged her to express creativity.[4] It was then perhaps a foregone conclusion that Claire would enter a creative field.
After high school, and taking many art classes, it became clear that Pettibone's creative focus would lead her to Otis Parsons School of Design[4] in Los Angeles. Graduating in 1989 with a degree in fashion design.
She married Guy Patrick Toley in 1991 and reside in Los Angeles with their daughter Lorelei (born 2005).
Career
Claire Pettibone, the self-described “true romantic” has emerged as the designer for which romance takes on a vintage yet modern je ne sais quoi. Claire formed a partnership with her husband, Guy Toley (dba “For Body & Soul”) in 1993. Their debut lingerie collection was carried in all 200+ Nordstrom stores nationwide. In 1994, they re-branded “For Body & Soul” as “Claire Pettibone Luxury Lingerie,” a designer label that sold at Saks Fifth Avenue and featured on the cover of Saks spring catalog modeled by Rebecca Romijn.
Her talent for conjuring up such uncommonly beautiful and ethereal sensations is her trademark, and underlies the “World of Claire” - a fashion house that has grown from luxury lingerie to include couture bridal, fashion lingerie, and inspired casual wear.
She opened flagship Claire Pettibone Boutique in Beverly Hills. Pettibone began informally designing wedding and red carpet gowns for clients including Cameron Diaz, Courtney Cox Arquette, Keely Shaye Smith (Mrs. Pierce Brosnan), Elisabeth Moss,[5] Kelly Baldwin (Mrs. Joey Fatone), Gucci Westman, along with various other celebrities.Awards & Achievements
