Parish history
The parish was established in 1890 by the Rev. James F. Kiely, with initial services being held in the chapel of St. Vincent's Free School.[1] The first permanent church was dedicated August 15, 1891 by the Rev. Kiely.[1] He was succeeded by the Rev. Michael J. Murray, who also attended to the Visitation Convent chapel in the parish, and who opened a school in 1913.[1] In 1914, "the congregation numbered 350, and the value of the church property is $40,000, with a debt of $15,000."[1]
