Chung Hwa School Kiudang

Sekolah Chung Hwa Kiudang or Chung Hwa School Kiudang or 九 汀 中 华 学 校 is the registered school name for a local Chinese school in Brunei Darussalam. It was named after the village, Kampong Kiudang (Kiudang Village) where it is a rural village in Tutong District. There are eight Chinese schools in Brunei Darussalam including Chung Hwa School Kiudang. All of them are considered as private schools, either do Chung Hwa School Kiudang.

Chung Hwa School Kiudang was found in 1951. It is a primary school with kindergarten where children can spend 9 years time here. There are Kg. 1~3 and Primary 1~6, with a total of 9 classes provided for the children. Since it is a private school, or in other word non-government school, you need to pay school fees for studying here. The school fees in Chung Hwa School Kiudang is one of the cheapest in town. The school is run by a board of committee and now the chairman is Mr. Sii Tai Chong. The headmaster of the school is Cikgu Kimpat bin Tiga.

The children studying in Primary Six will be sitting for the government examinations at the end of the year. We named this government examination as Penilaian Sekolah Rendah (PSR). Children will take 5 subjects which are Bahasa Melayu, English Language, Mathematics, General Papers and Science. We also achieved a perfect result with 100% passing rate last year(2008). One of our children had even scored all As' in the 5 subjects. Children will also learn more languages such as "Bahasa Melayu", "Chinese" and "English Language" compare to the government school.

The main incomes of the school are from donations, school fees and sponsorships. Since it is a non-profitable primary school, the incomes of school fees can not cover the expenditure of the school. Hence, the staff and the teachers will go to public for donations every Chinese New Year or special events. According to the report(Year 2009), there are 142 pupils and 13 registered and experienced teachers in Chung Hwa School Kiudang.
