Christopher and Sonya Dove

Christopher and Sonya Dove, known as “The Doves,” are internationally recognized award-winning hair stylists based in Santa Monica, California.

Born in England, the Doves attended South Devon Technical College and then opened Sophisticut Salon in 1980. From 1984 to 1993, they toured the world as master stylists. In 1994, they moved to the United States to work as Creative Directors for Shelton Salons and Schools and became USA Ambassadors for Wella’s Global Trend Vision, launching multiple product lines for the company. In 1998, they moved to New York becoming Creative Directors for Elizabeth Arden Red Door Salons ^[1] and worked out of the 5th Avenue flagship location. In 2001 they moved to Los Angeles to become Creative Directors for Wella North America ^[2] and in 2007, they opened their own flagship salon and advanced hairdressing academy The Doves Studio in Santa Monica, California ^[3].

The Doves have won some of the industry's most prestigious awards. In 1999 and 2000 they received Hair Color USA’s “Hair Colorists of the Year.” In 2001, they were honored as the first recipients as “Masters Hairstylists of the Year” by the North American Hairstylist Association ^[4]. In 2002, they were awarded Hair Color USA’s “Most Inspiring Hair Colorists” and in 2010 they will receive the National Cosmetology Association’s “Icons of the Year” being recognized for their commitment to the industry through their inspirational and educational contributions ^[5].
