Christopher Rugh

Christopher Rugh is an American Entrepreneur , native of Michigan and he graduated in 1992 from Grand Valley State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in public relations and advertising. He is most noted for his involvement in developing the vanity telephone business and guiding legislation to prevent the over-regulation of it. While serving as Co-Chairman of the SMS/800 Number Administration Committee (SNAC) for The Alliance for Telecommunications Industry Solutions, Inc. (ATIS), he provided guidance in responding to the FCC Forum on Toll-Free Number Administration (March 2, 2002.)[1] Mr. Rugh testified before the FCC on June 1, 2001 regarding the Disconnect Suspend Status Directive.[2] Mr. Rugh again testified before the FCC on March 4, 2002 as President and Chief Executive Officer of Worldwide Telegraph during the Forum on Toll Free Numbers Administration.[3]

Career

Chris founded Rugh Holdings in 1997 and launched Custom Toll Free that same year. CustomToll Free has grown to become “the nations leading vanity telephone number search firm.” [4] He also holds the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of WorldWide Telegraph.


Community Involvement

Chris was one of the founding members of BloopCamp, a non-profit[5] interactive art collective & Burning Man Theme Camp based in Seattle, Washington.[6] Chris is also a lifetime member of the ACLU and works to support a number of their initiatives.

Chris is a published author,[7] an avid blogger[8] and an accomplished public speaker.[9]
