Christian Gilliam is a UK Labour Party politician, and a Guildford (borough) councillor. He was elected in the 2011 local elections for the Westborough ward, narrowly taking the seat from the leader of the Liberal Democrats by 7 votes.[1]
He is also Deputy Leader of the Guildford Labour Group. [2] Christian was born in London, Hammersmith. He is the son of feature film actor David Gilliam.[3]
Christian Gilliam has lived in Guildford for the last five years, having moved there to complete his degree at the University of Surrey. After graduating at Surrey, he decided to stay in Guildford. He is currently a researcher in political theory at Royal Holloway, University of London.[4]
Christian Gilliam is the author of the Labour Party's forthcoming 'Hidden Guildford' report, which focuses on social exclusion and deprivation in seemingly affluent areas. The report provides policy suggestions that follow the co-operative methods of Lambeth Council[5]
He has worked on behalf of Friends of the Earth and Amnesty International.[6]
