History

The Christian Academy of Lawrenceburg was founded in 1995[1]; it was first founded as an pre-school by the Lawrenceburg United Methodist Church. The academy has since grown and now is spread across two campuses located at two different churches in Lawrenceburg, Kentucky. CAL has been growing steadily and is hoping that sometime in the near future they will soon have one facility that hosts grades K-12 as well as the athletics complex on that site. CAL has already begun planning for their future home and has found prospective spots to build, however funding and further detailed planning has not begun as of 12/14/2010.

Athletics

CAL offers many extra curricular activities and the school's most popular activities is it's athletics program. CAL fields several teams including: Varsity Cheerleading, Boy's Varsity and Junior Varsity Baseball, Boy's and Girl's Varsity and Junior Varsity Soccer, Boy's and Girl's Varsity and Junior Varsity Basketball, Softball, Volleyball, and Boy's and Girl's Varsity and Junior Varsity Golf. CAL is most widely known for their heralded Boy's Varsity Basketball program which has seen unparalleled success for a school of its size reaching the State Tournament for 7 years straight and the NACA National Tournament in Dayton, Tennessee, 5 years straight; with one Runner-Up.[2]

Basketball

The CAL basketball program began in the Fall of 1998. The school at the time had less than 100 students, which made it very difficult for the school to compete in the Kentucky Christian Athletic Association (KCAA). Throughout the years CAL has grown to be a much larger school, but is still small compared to other Christian schools in the state of Kentucky. Despite its humble beginnings, CAL has become a perennial powerhouse in the Kentucky Christian Athletic Association (KCAA) and Kentucky Christian School Athletic Association (KCSAA), the small school has produced several college athletes and has reached the state tournament 5 out of the last 6 years, and has earned a birth to the NACA National Tournament 4 out of the last 5 years. For a school of its size that is simply unprecedented.
