Chris Henry Coffey is an American-born actor best known for his portrayal of an internet predator in the 2010 film Trust, "one of the year's best films" according to Roger Ebert in his March 31, 2011 review.[1] It also stars Clive Owen, Catherine Keener, Viola Davis, Noah Emmerich, and Liana Liberato, and is directed by David Schwimmer. Trust premiered at the Toronto Film Festival in 2010, where Coffey was praised for his "tour-de-force performance...giving a shockingly convincing performance that is equally perverse and plausible."
Coffey is a 1999 graduate of the Yale School of Drama. Since then he has been seen on some of the most respected stages across the country, originating roles in Richard Nelson’s "Franks Home" directed by Robert Falls (Playwrights Horizons, NYC, Goodman Theater, Chicago, IL), Richard Nelson's How Shakespeare Won the West (Huntington Theater, Boston, MA) and working along side Arthur Miller in his penultimate play, Resurrection Blues directed by Mark Lamos. (Old Globe Theater, San Diego, CA).
Additional theatrical credits include Lips Together, Teeth Apart, dir. Mark Lamos (Westport Playhouse, CT), The Front Page, dir. Gordon Edelstein (Long Wharf Theater, New Haven CT), Violet Hour, dir. David Kennedy and Hedda Gabler, dir. Ron Daniels (Dallas Theatre Center, Dallas, TX), P.R. Man (Ohio Theatre, NYC), A View from the Bridge and A Midsummer Night's Dream (Alley Theatre, Houston, TX), Galileo and Measure For Measure (Yale Repertory Theater, New Haven, CT), among many others.
Additional television and film credits include a recurring role on Law & Order: CI, The International, Walking on the Sky, Thirteen Days, June, Play it By Ear, “Cupid”, and Law & Order.
Coffey was born and raised in Green Bay, Wisconsin and currently splits his time between New York and Los Angeles.
