Curran, a midfielder who could also play as a tagger, played for both the Collingwood and Richmond reserves early in his career.[1] The Box Hill player was elevated to Collingwood's senior list in the 1994 AFL Draft, where he was a pre-draft supplementary selection. He made 10 appearances in 1995 and the following year averaged 18 disposals from nine games.[2] An injury prone player, he was delisted after playing just three games in the 1998 AFL season.[2]
