Chris Butler (footballer)

Chris Butler (born 18 October 1984 in Liverpool) is a professional footballer who plays in the League of Ireland for Sligo Rovers.

Butler began his career as a youth and reserve player for Liverpool F.C. He later moved to Accrington Stanley where he played 1st team football, and then moved to Barrow A.F.C.[1]

Butler joined Sligo Rovers in 2008 and proved to be a top quality left back as the season progressed, contributing massively to their season making 22 League appearances.

In September 2008, emergency services were called to the scene of a crash which Butler was involved, after a 6 hour surgery, doctors confirmed he had shattered his kneecap and broke his shinbone.[2]

Butler is expected back before the end of the 2009 season having recently had wires taken of his knee and is now involved in training to help his fitness.
