Chris Bullivant is a British newspaper tycoon having launched in excess of 74 titles across the UK.[citation needed] He and his wife (Pat Bullivant) are credited with launching the country's first ever free newspaper (The Banbury Focus in 1971) and the UK's first free daily title Birmingham Daily News on Oct 2 1984.[citation needed] They appear in the British Library's Concise History of the British Newspaper in the Twentieth Century.[1]
Having now sold off much of their business empire the Bullivants still run the 15th largest newspaper publisher in the country, Bullivant Media [2] and publish weekly newspapers across Warwickshire, Worcestershire and parts of the West Midlands in the southern conurbations around Birmingham.
Their son Chris Bullivant (Jnr) MBA is now Managing Director of the group and their daughter Claire Bullivant MA is a writer for Bullivant Media's magazines.
Bullivant Media distribute newspaper titles to over 360,000 homes each week (Source: ABC Jul-Dec 2010) and have in excess of 550,000 weekly readers (Source: JICREG as at 01/01/2011).
