- Glenny Drive Apartments
The Glenny Drive Apartments (Also known as Kensington Heights) were a
Buffalo, New York ,public housing project built in the 1950s during the U.S. public housing fad of the 1950s and early 1960s; it was abandoned in 1981. Currently, it is Buffalo's only abandoned public housing development, located next to the Kensington Expressway (NY-33). The Buffalo Municipal Hosing Authority's official explanation for the closing of the projects was that they lost federal funding for the maintenance of the buildings. In March 2007, $5,000,000 was granted to build senior housing on the site, with the demolition of the six buildings beginning in Fall.
