Set up in 2003 and registered as a charity in 2004 the growth of Childreach International has been rapid, through the development of unique fundraising activities including Challenge Events and Futurebuilding. These have enabled an expansion in the number of projects funded with help from Childreach International, from a handful of village communities in East Africa up to a truly global organisation that has worked with tens of thousands of children in the developing world.
Childreach International works at a grassroots level, providing access to education and healthcare to children by empowering local communities. Currently they have projects in Africa and Asia, conducted by local staff and volunteers in regional offices. Although the number of communities and countries with projects have varied over the year the following countries are those with active long-term projects [2].
These communities have the support from three fundraising office based in:
Childreach International focuses on access to healthcare, education and child rights and protection, in the places of the world that are often overlooked by the larger NGOs, and relies on using local talents and local resources to help pull communities out of poverty. In this way, by helping societies help themselves, they are never dependent on charitable 'hand outs' and communities emerge that benefit from the projects on the long-term scale.
