Stéphan Buckland (also written "Stéphane Buckland;" born
January 12 ,1977 ) is a Mauritian athlete competing in the 200 metres.Buckland comes from the small island of Mauritius where there are quite a few sporting icons such as
Vikash Dhorasoo who is a Franco-Mauritian,Eric Milazar who is a 400m runner and bantamweight boxerBruno Julie . He is regarded as a hero in his country for his sporting achievements and his contributions on poverty.Buckand, came sixth in the 200m Men final at the
2004 Summer Olympics . Buckland representedMauritius at the 2008 Summer Olympics inBeijing . He competed at the200 metres where he placed third in his first round heat in a time of 20.98 seconds. He improved his time in the second round to 20.27 seconds, but only finished fifth in his heat. His time was still enough to advance to the semi finals, but he was unable to make it to the finals. In his semi final race he placed sixth with a time of 20.48 seconds.
