Charles Chvala

Charles Chvala (December 5, 1954-) is a Wisconsin politician and legislator.

Born in Merrill, Wisconsin, Chvala graduated from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and received his law degree there. In 1983, he served in the Wisconsin State Assembly as a Democratic lawmaker. He served in the Wisconsin State Senate from 1985 until his indictment in 2005.[1][2] On October 17, 2002 he was charged with 20 felony counts, including extortion, misconduct in public office and filing false reports with the state Elections Board. He was sentenced to nine months in jail with two years of probation for his part in the state Capitol corruption scandal.[3]
