Charles Emil Baron (November 25, 1912 or 1913 in St. Louis, Missouri, USA - May 1, 1997 in St. Louis, Missouri, USA) was a longtime minor league baseball player and manager who collected over 2,300 hits as a player and a league championship as a manager.
Playing career
Baron spent 20 seasons playing in the minor leagues, from 1931 to 1951, reaching as high as Triple-A in two seasons (1946 and 1947). He did not hit below .322 from 1934 to 1937, and he finished his career with a 2,319 hits and a .306 batting average in 2,080 minor league games. He led his respective league in triples in 1937, 1939 and 1944, and in 1936 he led the East Texas League in runs scored[1].
Managerial career
For the latter five years of his career, Baron was a player-manager. In 1947, he managed the Fresno Cardinals and Miami Tourists for part of the year. He managed the Anniston Rams in 1948 and for part of 1949, and in 1950 he managed the Jacksonville Jax, leading them to a league championship. He managed the Port Arthur Sea Hawks for part of the 1951 season.
