*Writing parts of compound words in other Germanic languages with spaces between its parts, as is done with many in English, is sometimes dubbed “"the English disease"” in Dutch and Norwegian and possibly elsewhere as well. e.g. writing "middel eeuwen"'in Dutch or "middel alderen" in Norwegian instead of the usual "middeleeuwen/middelalderen" (middle ages).
