A Certified Realtime Reporter is an entry-level, realtime reporter who possesses the knowledge, skill, and ability to produce accurate, simultaneous translation and display of live proceedings utilizing computer-aided transcription. It is provided by the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA).
Reporters must be a Registered Professional Reporter to register for the exam and must pass a 5-minute speed skills test to become certified. After completing the CRR test, reporters must maintain this certification by renewing NCRA membership and completing certain other requirements provided by the NCRA.
Speed Skills Test
1 Setting up and operating your equipment 2 Accurately writing realtime for five minutes at 96% accuracy from professionally recorded literary material at the speed of 180 words per minute. 3 Converting your file to an ASCII text file. You are only graded on your final submitted text file.
