Personal profile & Background: Arun Kumar Sinha, an I.P.S officer from the Kerala Police 1987 cadre is currently Inspector General, Border Security Force. His previous stint was a long career with the Kerala Police. He is a recipient of President of India Medal for meritorious service apart from receiving several commendations from the government.[citation needed] He was born in Hazaribag the state of Jharkhand, is married and has two sons. He attained his Bachelor of Science from Delhi University, Delhi & Master of Science from JNU Delhi.

Professional Profile:

Arun Kumar Sinha, is currently fulfilling the role of IG, Border Security Force on the Western Border of India; a challenging assignment. Prior to this, he was working in Kerala Police.

A tech savvy officer who introduced the famous “CRIME STOPPER SYSTEM” in Kerala Police that was copied by other states later. He was instrumental in creating computer networking for the entire Police set up of Kerala police. He supervised several sensational cases of Kerala like the Pipe bomb case of Malapuram, serial burning of theatres in northern Kerala, bombing and killing of undertrial prisoner in Thiruvanthapuram, serial letter bomb blasts in Thiruvanthapuram and many other sensational cases of public importance like the Thantri case. He initiated several measures to streamline the traffic of Thiruvanthapuram and Kochi city and brought down the accident rate.
