Show and Display

Show and Display

The "Show and Display" rule,[1] introduced by the United States federal National Highway Traffic Safety Administration in 1999, made it legal for car collectors to import cars for use in their private collections that would otherwise not be street legal in the United States. With certain special vehicles, such as the Porsche 959, the manufacturer would not be willing to subject the car to the required testing (involving, among other things, destructive crash tests) to qualify it for normal import to the United States. Vehicles imported under the "Show and Display" law can only be used to a limited degree. The maximum annual mileage of the vehicle may not exceed 2,500 miles.
