Michael Bacarella

Michael Bacarella is a software developer who lives in New York.

He was one of the first people to detect and report the existence of the MS SQL Slammer worm [ [http://seclists.org/bugtraq/2003/Jan/0221.html Bugtraq: MS SQL WORM IS DESTROYING INTERNET BLOCK PORT 1434! ] ] . Because of his early warning, he was originally suspected of having authored it by some in the media due to his close affiliation with convicted hacker Dennis Moran.

Bacarella was quoted in WIRED Magazine's July 2003 issue in a special report on the MS SQL Slammer worm.

Publications

Linux Journal ran Bacarella's article "Taking Advantage of Linux Capabilities" in their Kernel Internals themed May 2002 print edition.

A subsequent article, which discusses how to use Cyclades terminal servers has been featured on Linux Journal online [ [http://linuxjournal.com/article.php?sid=6118 Managing Remote Servers] ] .
