Alfred Lowth

Alfred Lowth

Alfred James "Dandy" Lowth (born 27 July 1817 at Chiswick, Middlesex; died 5 February 1907 at Winchester, Hampshire) was an English amateur cricketer. His career was cut short because of failing eyesight.

Career

Known as "Dandy", Lowth was a highly promising fast bowler from Winchester School who was mainly associated with Oxford University, making 8 known appearances in first-class matches from 1836 to 1841. He appeared for the Gentlemen in the 1836 and 1841 Gentlemen v Players matches.
