- Paul Brehm
Paul Brehm is Senior Research Scientist at the
Vollum Institute atOhio State University . He was formerly at Stony Brook and played a key role in stimulatingMartin Chalfie to work onGreen fluorescent protein for which Chalfie shared the Nobel Prize in Chemistry 2008.Biography
He graduated in zoology from the
University of Wisconsin and earned his Ph.D.UCLA under James Morin focusing onmarine biology andbioluminescence . Postgraduate training withRoger Eckert at UCLA andYoshi Kidokoro at theSalk Institute focused oncalcium channels and synaptic transmission. The next 10 years were spent as an Associate Professor in the Department of Physiology atTufts Medical School and summers at the Marine Biological Laboratory atWoods Hole . In 1990 he moved toStony Brook University where he served as Professor of Neurobiology and Behavior before assuming a position as Senior Scientist at the Vollum in 2007.
