Granny Grace

The Granny Grace Mysteries, from author Patricia C. Hughes, are a series of comical mystery short stories published in Alfred Hitchcock's Mystery Magazine in the late 1990's. [AAMM issues July/August 1999, November 1999.] They followed the ghostly capers of Dallas McGee, a young corporate secretary from Houston, who becomes haunted by her Great-Granny Grace--a ghost who appears to her as a young and flamboyant 1920's flapper. Grace died just as Dallas' sister Savannah was supposed to marry into the powerful St. James family--and she refuses to "cross over" until Dallas investigates a long series of St. James murders dating back to the 1920's. Patricia C. Hughes is also the author of "Food for the Gods", the original science fiction short story, upon which the critically successful short film, Food for the Gods is based.
