Camp Encounter (known also as Camp encounters) is a religious camp run by the First Christian
Reformed Church inGuelph ,Ontario ,Canada . The mission of Camp encounter is to "offer a place where children can be safe, challenged, and inspired. It is our aim to guide the campers in becoming healthy, responsible citizens of our community... we are committed to knowing, showing, and growing in the love of God". Camp Encounter is significant for its unique blending of religious education and traditional camp activities, making it an influential program which has spawned many similarm programs at reformed churches in Canada.The Program
Camp Encounter is a
day camp program, meaning that children attend the camp daily and return home at the end of each day. Children at Camp Encounter participate in a variety of games and activities, in addition to these activities they also receive religious education informed by Reformed church doctrine. Campers have the option of choosing specializations which include, art, cooking, and woodworking.Religion
