Saturnalia (Play by Mail game)

= Introduction =

Saturnalia is a Fantasy Role-Playing Play By Mail Game. Saturnalia allows you to control the actions of a character in a swords and sorcery environment. Orders for your character are sent to the GM (Game Master) who processes them and sent the result back to you. The result is usually an entertaining narrative where several characters (including yours) are included. Saturnalia began in 1984 with two enterprising individuals named Neil Packer and Simon Letts as GM's and many Southampton University studentes as players. At its height Saturnalia contained over a thousand player characters and five full-time GM's. Neil and Simon faded from GM-ing (Packer being the most enduring and lasting until '95). Since then Saturnalia has existed wholly outside Southampton and Sloth's auspices in the hands of former players turned GM.
