- Prypiat Cheese
Prypiat Cheese, or При́пять Сыр, is a regional cheese of the country of Ukraine. It is made mostly from a mixture of goat and cow's milk.It was previously known for having a bland flavor. Remarkably, after the disaster at the Chernobyl Power Plant, the milk taken from the cows and goats yielded a more distinguished taste. People have been reluctant to try it because of suspected radiation levels in the cheese, but there is no more in it than one would receive from flying in an airplane.A unique feature of the Prypiat Cheese is it's faint glow in complete darkness. This is too a chemical reaction taking place in the rind of the cheese. It is no different than the reaction found in fireflies.
