Foster was born in Worthing, West Sussex and studied painting at the University of Brighton and at the Princes' Drawing School. He lives and works in London.
He received runner up prize in John Moores 25 for the painting "Hero Worship". The painting is a dark lamentation on corrupted male idols, that borders on the grotesque and fetishistic.
The painting was a runner up, from over three thousand entries, for the John Moores Painting Prize [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Moores_Painting_Prize] which was won by
Peter McDonald . The competition was judged by Sacha Craddock,Jack and Dinos Chapman , Paul Morrison and Graham Crowley.----
