Michael Arthur Hill (born

The son of Arthur and Hilda Hill [Who's Who 2008: London,A & C Black ISBN 9780713672576] , he was educated atFitzwilliam College, Cambridge [ Debrett's People of Today London,2008Debrett's , ISBN 9781870520959] and atRidley Hall, Cambridge . Between 1977 and 1980 Hill wasCurate ofSt Mary Magdalene ,Addiscombe and from 1980 to 1983 ofSt Paul Slough ; and then from 1983 to 1990Priest in charge of St LeonardChesham Bois . In 1990, he becameRural Dean ofAmersham and two years laterArchdeacon ofBerkshire [Crockford's Clerical Directory 2008/2009 Lambeth, Church House Publishing ISBN 9780715110300] . Between 1998 and 2003 he was appointedBishop of Buckingham http://www.number10.gov.uk/Page3734. Since 2003, he has been the 56th Bishop of Bristol.
