Companion Care

Companion Care

Companion Care is a UK chain of over 45 veterinary surgeries, the majority of which are located within "Pets at Home" pet stores. [http://www.companioncare.co.uk/about] The surgeries provide complete veterinary care for companion animals, predominantly cats, dogs and rabbits, and are open 7 days a week. Companion Care was founded in 1995, but in 2001 it was acquired by the Pets at Home Group and a new management team headed by the current managing director (Jane Balmain) were appointed. Companion Care was the first UK veterinary chain to pilot a joint venturing business model with the Romford and Portsmouth Pets at Home stores. Sales have grown from £6.8 m in 2001 to over £28m for 2007/2008. Companion Care continues to grow on the joint venture model which allows a veterinary surgeon to profit from running their own surgery with full support and back up for all aspects of the business.
