He is one of the first South Korean player to play international match in the history of theKorea Republic national football team . Hong started his football career at Bosung College that changed to
Korea University . Hong was defender at first in the university. In11 April ,1947 , Korea Republic was arrived inSanghai . In there, national team was played five games with Sanghai amateur football team. As member of national team, Hong was played few games. After he retired, Hong was began to referee from 1957 to 1967, as well as manager of
Korea University . From 1969, he managed Seoul Bank FC that now defunct amateur team for eight years. In 1971, he was manager of Korea Republic. Hong was part of executive commitee ofKorea Football Association in 1960, 1962, 1967, 1972-1974, and vice president ofKorea Football Association from 1985 to 1986.
