Earl Snyder, born May 6, 1976 in New Britain, Connecticut, is a baseball player who has played in the Major Leagues for the Cleveland Indians and the Boston Red Sox. He has achieved notable success in the minor leagues for several organizations, playing for the St. Lucie Mets, the Binghamton Mets, the Norfolk Tides, the Buffalo Bisons, the Pawtucket Red Sox, and the Durham Bulls.

The 6'0" 207 pound Snyder attended Plainville High School in Connecticut and went to college at the University of Hartford. While in college, he played for the Middletown Giants and Danbury Westerners of the New England Collegiate Baseball League. He was drafted in 1998 in the 36th round by the New York Mets [http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/S/earl-snyder.shtml] [http://www.baseball-almanac.com/players/player.php?p=snydeea01] , but only reached the AAA level with them.

On December 13, 2001, the Mets sent Snyder and Billy Traber to the Indians, completing a deal in which the Mets traded Matt Lawton, Alex Escobar, Jerrod Riggan and two players to be named (Snyder and Traber) to Cleveland in exchange for All-Star Roberto Alomar, Mike Bacsik and Danny Peoples.

After playing the 2002 season with both the Indians and Bisons, their AAA affiliate, Snyder was claimed on waivers by the Red Sox on January 17, 2003. He was an IL All-Star and an IL postseason All-Star in 2004 for the Pawtucket Red Sox, the AAA affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. He also won the Player of the Week Award on May 3, 2004. Most baseball scouting reports indicate that Snyder is decent in the field, both at first and third, and hits for power at the plate. However, he strikes out too much and should learn to take more pitches. He has average speed, and has the potential to be a backup in the Major Leagues.

Snyder played in the minor leagues for the Cincinnati Reds in by|2006 and part of by|2007. He played most of the by|2007 season for the Charlotte Knights, the AAA team of the Chicago White Sox.

Snyder is right-handed and resides in Yardley, PA in the offseason.
