Arab-Palestinian of 1948

Arab-Palestinian of 1948

The term Palestinians of 48 or Arabs of 48 (1948) started after the second Nakba (the Naksa of 1967) where Israel occupied the West Bank, East Jerusalem, The golan Heights and Sinai desert in Egypt. The term refers to the minority of Arab Palestinians who remained in Israel after the first Israeli occupation in 1948occupation (Al-Nakba) and eventually were forced to obtain the Israeli passport by de facto in order to remaain inside what then became Israel.

The term if often taken for Arab Israeli's referring to the minority of arabs who are Israelis. The term was invented by the Shabak (Israeli Intelligence) as a way to isolate this minority (now living in Israeli) from the rest of the Palestinians in Jerusalem, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

Nationalist Palestinians refer to the term Arabs of (19)48 as they were the Palestinians who remained in their homes during the first occupation and have not become Israelis, as in believing that Israel is their state of origin.

Arabs of 1948 form a major minority inside israel, around 20% of Israel's population and face continous racist hazards by the Israeli government.
