NWP Gaming is an e-Sports gaming team from the United States. It was founded in 1997 by two gamers, Steven 'p0rk' Hechtman and Red 'Zithowa' Daly living in Washington DC. It's currently being managed by Andrew 'Diddlez' Machalek and Cody 'MOP' Aykroyd.

History

NWP Gaming was formed in 1997 as an American "Quake" clan named NWP by Steven 'p0rk' Hechtman and Red 'Zithowa' Daly. The two were later joined by Jase 'DarkSpoon' Payne, Chad 'China', and Danny 'Destruction' Semac and went on to take third place in their first official TDM match in Quake 2 during QuakeCON later that year.

On May 23rd, 1998 NWP was joined by newcomer Andrew 'Diddlez' Machalek, an up and coming favorite in competitive 1 vs 1 matches in the Quake series. Later that same year NWP was joined by David 'Spydar' Rogers and Cody 'MOP' Aykroyd, and the name was changed from NWP to NWP Gaming.

On January 1st, 2001 NWP Gaming formed its Counter Strike division, and went on to place within the top tier in various 5on5 tournaments and competitive matches, winning over $45,000 in prizes during the remainder of that year. NWP Gaming has since won over fourteen tournament titles, including top place in the St. Louis CPL Invitational for both Counter Strike and Soldier of Fortune in 2002, and placing 3rd in the Midwest Gaming Leage for Quake 3 in 2003.

On August 19th, 2004 NWP Gaming dismissed its Starcraft and Warcraft 2 teams, ending each with near perfect records and putting all of its recourses into Warcraft 3. Also in 2003, NWP Gaming went on to three new games, Call of Duty, Doom3, and Painkiller, placing top 3 in both Call of Duty and Doom 3. NWP Gaming did not have such luck in Painkiller, but however did manage to pull 6th place in the world in 2005.

In 2006, NWP Gaming went on to take first prize in the St. Louis Invitational for Quake 4, as well as 5th place at the WSVG in Louisville, KY and 3rd place WSVG Intel Summer Event in Dallas, TX.

On March 26, 2008, NWP Gaming dismissed its Call of Duty 2 team and World of Warcraft team, and on April 13th, dismissed its Super Smash Bros. team. On October 10, 2008, NWP Gaming dismissed its long running team, having won 37 matches and losing just one in its six years.
