The Early Days
As a child, Mrs. Jones received her meger education from the Public Schools of Robeson County, North Carolina. A self-made woman she had very little formal school training. After her mother died, at age 14, she assumed all the motherly duties for her 11 siblings. Effie and her siblings work along side their father as share croppers. They In 1966 she joined Shiloh Baptist Church and became an Usher. She was a faithful member of Missionary Services and the Shiloh Baptist Church Choir.
Career
She went on to unselfishly serve as a county Food Services Provider and Counselor for the Head Start Program serving her home church, as well as the local community as an civil rights activist. She completely devoted herself to the betterment of the community through the development of each and every child. After her retirement in 1988, she often said that her greatest joy came from seeing her students become successful adults and positive contributors to society.
Family
Her son Willie, preceded her in death. She is survived by her sons: Roger (Lisa), Carlton, Perry. George (Patsy), Patrick (Candy), and Mike (Evelyn); daughter Rosemary (James); brothers: Clinton Bouldin and Silas Bouldin (Catherine); sisters: Magnolia Ford and Rachel Leach; 29 grandchildren; 37 greatgrandchildren; a special friend, Ms. Francine McLaurin of Laurinburg, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends-
Death
On Tuesdav. April 30; 2002 at- 10:20 PM God quietly called Mrs. Jones from labor to rest. She peacefully passed away in Moore County Regional Hospital, Pinehurst, North Carolina.
