Musical Style and Influences Queso's music has made it difficult to describe. Though they have improved their sound with each album, the band has, maintained a single style and attitude on their style of work. This style mixes elements and influences from a wide variety of genres such as alternative rock, hip hop, folk music, psychedelic rock, nu-metal and classic pinoy rock. [citation needed] Even some "carribean" influences can be heard in songs such as "Mottaka".Some songs are really agrressive from start to finish with the usual slow down to build up tempo back to end the song on a heavier note(Parusa, Steve, Fine, 10x Karma) This has made them difficult to categorize, prompting listeners to describe them with several different genre handles, among them alternative metal, [18] hard rock, [18] [19] nu metal [20] [21] and Tropical Island Grunge(???). [22]
Tempos vary and change frequently in songs especially in the third album primarily because of a more technical and faster drums. This can be heard in songs like "Fine", "INKDAH" and "Tiamat"
Their vocal style has evolved over the years. Ian Tayao frequently uses growls,screams in most of their songs he also sings in a Jonathan Davis derived whisper(10x Karma,Fine), switching between near screaming followed by a softer type of singing sometimes sung in an undefinable accent in songs such as "Furlan", 'Mottaka" and "Katchatore".
Ian Tayao stated in an inerview that they are each other's influences and that they fill their gaps.
Initially known for their love of live performances that gave them the signature of being the most intense performers that made them crowd favorites anticipating their performance especially in huge events audiences would already chant "queso" even if the band would play much later. Most would say that Queso is one of the few bands that can turn a dull crowd into a violent mosh pit. Their live performaces is the main factor to their popularity more than radio and TV play and they have said many times that that's the way they want it to be. {UNDERCONSTRUCTION}
