The Longing was the final short film completed by award winning Australian director Alex Frayne. The documentary was independently financed and filmed entirely in Braidwood, New South Wales. The team behind the film (Sputnik Films) includes award winning cinematographer Nick Matthews and Australian Film Institute winning sound designer Tom Heuzenroeder.

The Longing premiered at the 1st Adelaide Film Festival [http://www.adelaidefilmfestival.org"Adelaide Film Festival"] ] and has been televised numerous times on the Special Broadcasting Service (SBS TV). The film has been televised in the US, Canada and Germany. The Longing is an Australian documentary that follows a rancher who leaves the bush for the big smoke, following a devastating drought. In the city he finds himself losing both his dignity and sanity, for it is a place in which he feels like a fish out of water. So he packs his bags and returns to the place close to his heart.
