WDGY was the original call letters of the radio station currently known as KFAN 1130 from 1925 to 1991. Immediately after the call letter change, KDWB 630 AM changed their call letters to WDGY, going through format changes and over a 2 year period off the air before changing their call letters to
WREY in August 2008. WMIN 740 AM subequently adopted the WDGY call letters.History of 740 AM WMIN
WMIN was a pop/rock
Spanish-language station as "La Nueva Ley" untilNovember 14 ,2005 . They also aired sports talk at various times during the previous two decades. Previously, WMIN leased time to two formats that eventually purchased their own full-time frequencies: "Straight Talk Radio" (now Air America Minnesota on AM 950KTNF ) andRelevant Radio (on AM 1330 WLOL).The previous call letters were WAOZ (until
1983 ) and WRPX (until1993 ) prior to picking up the vacated WMIN calls. In 2008, the station became WDGY after sister station 630 AM switched to WREY.Historically, the WMIN
callsign was used from1936 until1972 by the predecessor to today'sKMNV 1400 AM, and the call was also briefly used for a shared timetelevision station that eventually became today'sKARE channel 11.External links
