Baikida Carroll (b. January 15, 1947,
St. Louis, Missouri ) is an Americanjazz trumpeter.Carroll studied at
Southern Illinois University and at theArmed Forces School of Music early in his career. Following this he became a member of theBlack Artists Group in St. Louis, where he directed theirfree jazz ensemble. This group recorded in Europe in the 1970s. In the 1970s and 1980s he worked with musicians such asOliver Lake ,Michael Gregory Jackson ,Muhal Richard Abrams ,Jack DeJohnette , and David Murray, in addition to recording under his own name.Discography
