Bombay Citizens' commitee was an advocacy group which lobbied to keep
Bombay city out ofMaharashtra during the state reorganisation. The group was headed by a leading cotton industralist Purshottamdas Thakurdas.J.R.D. Tata was one of the members and the commitee was composed mostly of Gujarathis. The group submitted a 200 page application to States reorganisation commitee in year 1954.
