A childhood school friend Christopher Beale was moving back to Hull from Plymouth in 2004 so Mark continued to write tracks until he moved back. Chris played the bass so they both got together and wrote "Nicotine Girl". In 2004 they formed "Some Are Saints", which lasted 4 years, releasing an album entitled "Ginger Face" in 2005 and two singles from the album called "Changing" and "Break This Ice" in 2006.
