When Luanne is overdrawn at the bank, she takes out yet another cash advance on her
credit card , but at the end of the month is unable to pay the bill. When she asks Hank for help paying her car note, which he co-signed for, he offers to take over her budget, but Peggy steps in to prove herself capable. She insists that Luanne get a second job to pay down her massive debt. Bobby helps her find an ad in the paper that sounds suspiciously like an audition for an adult film or escort service, but when Peggy rushes out to stop her, she discovers that the listing is for aroller derby team, run by shady car salesman Layne Pratley and paying $500 a week. Peggy impresses Layne with her physical skills and also joins the team.Peggy and Luanne (now known as "Golddust" and "The Executionator") praise the money they'll be making although Hank thinks Peggy just wants an outlet for her aggression. Peggy bribes him by promising to buy some expensive patio furniture. While everyone watches the game, Lucky refuses Bobby's offer of a corn chip, saying he used to work in the factory where he could eat fresh ones and promises to let Bobby experience it. Peggy and Luanne help lead the team to victory while impressing the team owners watching from above. However, when they receive their first paychecks, Pratley has imposed a number of dubious "deductions", and they end up with only $90. The other girls on the team feel helpless to do anything about it.
Upset at the shortchanging, Peggy gathers the team and proposes that they buy their own franchise, making them their own bosses, and all they need is $1000 each to do it. Meanwhile, Lucky drives Bobby to the corn chip factory, only to be turned away by security. Peggy and Luanne get turned down by every bank in town for the money to buy the team, so Peggy resorts to a cash advance to cover it, expecting to pay it back before the interest kicks in. Peggy and the girls tell Pratley they have their own franchise and run him off. He meets with the other owners, who plan to stop the revolution by telling Hank.
Peggy's idea of a democratic team is falling apart due to infighting, and they can't decide anything by voting since there's an even number of players. After Pratley tells Hank and indirectly threatens Peggy, Hank confronts her, disappointed that she is not teaching Luanne responsibility. Realizing that Pratley and the owners feel desperate, Peggy tells the team to pretend to get along long enough to have them buy them out. Lucky attempts to scale the security fence at the corn chip factory, but falls off and injures himself; instead of suing he gets Bobby in to eat a fresh corn chip off the line. The roller derby team is about to implode when the owners cave in and make them an offer; Peggy tells them they only have to skate together long enough to cash the check and quit, since they still don't have contracts. Luanne pays off her debt, and Peggy has enough to buy Hank parts of a patio set.
