The salitre is a a clay sculpture realized on August 10, 2007 by the Argentinian sculptor L.R. It was an order realized for a birthday. It is formed of two pieces: the crown and the bowl. It is the result of the intention of the author for creating a playful piece which, it would became art itself. Its size is about ten cubic centimetres. The main piece is the crown, in gothic style, a clear symbol of the republican ideas of the author, as the basis of the sculpture doesn't have the necessary hole to put it on the head, but it is closed. With this, L.R. wanted to transmit his reject to a monarchic symbol. The bowl represents the play with the minds that kings pratice on their people, and the way this minds round without any chance of scaping of monarchy in the same way as the bowl cannot go away from the crown, as it crashes with the head columns. Its colour is light blue, which gives to the piece the look as a treasure rescued from the sea; this is, as an old and anachronic object, as in the author's republican opinion, is the monarchy. So on, the origin of the sculpture was the result of the surplus of their sculptor mates, which created another pieces for the same order. According to this, L.R. bets on recycling for its creation. The author deals with women as he chooses a femenin name for the work, on the defense of lesbianism. Nowadays, the work can be found in private exposition in Barañáin, all together with the rest of pieces ordered for the same birthday, result of the rest of the clay of The Salitre.
