Blain Ernest Murphy, (born 22 May, 1975) is an Ireland television presenter and executive, who made his name as a GAA analyst on Shannonside Northern Sound in Ireland. He has presented many light entertainment television programmes, including "Guess My Name", "Would I Lie To You" and "The Blain Murphy Show". His promising career tragically ended on 22 October 2007 when he fatally crashed his motorhome near Munich

Early life and radio career

Murphy known also to his friends as "the German Leprechaun" made his name as the outspoken pundit on Shannonside Northern Sound's popular GAA programme Breaking Balls where he was also known for his colourful phrases. He soon gained notoriety and in 1999 was given his own RTE show "Guess My Name" where contestants had to determine the name of various members of the public.

The Blain Murphy Show

His big break came when Fox Networks gave him his own Monday night show.The Blain Murphy Show was known for it's smutty humour and crazy dancing. During one famous interview with Neil Armstrong, Murphy infuriated the astronaut by not mentioning the moon once.

Death

Murphy's death was shrouded in mystery as on 22 October 2007 he crashed his motorhome on the German "autobahnen" for apparently no reason. He was killed instantly. Murphy is survived by his wife, noted model, Emma Treanor-Murphy and children Johnston and Prudence
