Raymond Acevedo (born
December 21 ,1971 ), is a Puerto Rican rockmusic singer.Music career
Raymond Acevedo joined the well-known Puerto Rican
boy band , Menudo, in 1985, replacing the popularRay Reyes . Acevedo joinedRicky Martin andRobby Rosa , among others, in the band.Acevedo came into Menudo towards the end of what is generally considered the band's "golden era", when the group was undergoing a change that eventually resulted in Menudo's producing songs that were arguably edgier than their previous hits. Acevedo did participate in two of Menudo's pre-rock era albums, including Ayer Y Hoy.
On this album, Acevedo sang lead on the Menudo hit "
En San Juan me Enamore " ("I Fell in Love In San Juan").Having become a teen idol in
Puerto Rico and the rest ofLatin America , and a favorite among Menudo fans, Acevedo's departure from the group was followed closely by the media. He left on August 2, 1988, a few months short of his seventeenth birthday.As of February 19, 2007, Acevedo was in
Brazil pursuing promotional opportunities. He returned to theUS in early 2007.Raymond is currently in
Florida , preparing for music performances and art shows across the state.See also
