Jon-Marc McDonald (born September 20, 1976) is an American born writer, blogger, publicist, political activist and an accomplished baker.

Biography

Early Life

McDonald was born in Fort Worth, Texas to John and Lyn McDonald. He has one younger brother, Grant, who is a student at New York University [http://www.nyu.edu/zuckerman.forum/ NYU Zuckerman Forum] ] .

Early Political Career

McDonald began his career working on the 1998 congressional campaign of Brian Babin, Republican candidate of Texas's 2nd congressional district. The 2nd district of Texas is best known for its former representative, Charlie Wilson, for whom the movie Charlie Wilson's War was based.

After three months working on the campaign, McDonald abruptly resigned citing "irreconcilable differences" with Babin. According to "The Dallas Morning News", McDonald announced his resignation through a press release without discussing it with Babin, and his sudden departure left those in the campaign shocked and confused. McDonald also repeatedly identified himself as the campaign manager but Babin identified him as a volunteer coordinator, also a paid position [http://www.planetout.com/news/article-print.html?1998/08/25/3 Planet Out article 1998/08/25] ] [http://nl.newsbank.com/nl-search/we/Archives?s_hidethis=no&p_product=DM&p_theme=dm&p_action=search&p_maxdocs=200&p_field_label-0=Author&p_field_label-1=title&p_bool_label-1=AND&p_field_label-2=Section&p_bool_label-2=AND&s_dispstring=%20Jon%20Marc%20McDonald%20AND%20date(all)&p_field_advanced-0=&p_text_advanced-0=(%22%20Jon%20Marc%20McDonald%22)&p_perpage=10&p_sort=YMD_date:D&xcal_useweights=no Dallas Morning News] ] .

McDonald's account of the resignation varies somewhat from the reported accounts. On his political website, "Screaming from the Rooftop", McDonald recalls the resignation by cryptically writing "...after a series of events I resigned from the campaign" [http://rooftopscreaming.blogspot.com/2008/09/i-was-mark-buse.html Screaming from the Rooftop 2008/09/23] ] . None of the various news accounts refer to these supposed series of events that led to his resignation and McDonald's website does not elaborate.

In an interview with the "Houston Chronicle" regarding his resignation, McDonald created further controversy when he told reporter Alan Bernstein that Babin thought homosexuals should be shot, a claim Babin adamantly denied [http://www.chron.com/CDA/archives/archive.mpl?id=1998_3078530 Houston Chronicle] ]

Post Politics

After his resignation McDonald returned to Washington, D.C., where he lived prior to the campaign. There appears to be no information on McDonald's activities after the campaign through 2001

McDonald moved to New York City where, according to a profile in "PR Week", he worked in communications for the book retailer Barnes & Noble before being hired as the communications director for the Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) [http://www.prweekus.com/McDonald-to-push-HKTDCs-message/article/41711/ PR Week Article] ] . On September 08, 2001 McDonald produced a fashion show featuring Hong Kong designers at New York Fashion Week for the HKTDC [http://www.fashionwindows.com/fashion/hk/asian_chic.asp Fashion Windows - Asian Chic at Fashion Week] ]
