BHAI TRILOCHAN SINGH PANESAR(VEERJI)Bhai Trilochan Singh Panesar(Veerji) is famously known as Jhaaroon Wale(broom) Veerji. He is often found in the Gurudwaras of Delhi cleaning them with his team in the morning. 70 years of age, born in Mandlay in Burma on 18th November 1938. He everyday feeds around 4000 people in front of Gurudwara Sis Ganj at New Delhi. He runs a free clinic for the poor at the footpath of Chandi Chowk, New Delhi, where he along with team of volunteers bandage and provide medicines to around 150 people. He has six more points in Delhi where medicines are given free of cost to around 1000 people in the city of Delhi. He and his team cremate unclaimed dead in various mortuaries around the city wiith the help of Delhi Police. He has immunized around a 1,00,000 people for Hepititis B. He in the various capacities constructed and repaired lot of crematoriums. Veerji is a secular person with whom are attached people of all the faiths. He has cleaned many Mandirs, Masjids and Gurudwaras. During the Gujarat earthquake he went to a place called Limbadi in Gujarat and constructed a broken segment of the hospital. During Delhi Sarojni Nagar bomb blasts, he cremated most of the dead bodies free of charge assisting the police. Mother Teresa has been one of his greatest inspirations. His Ashram at Tilak Nagar in Delhi is called Veerji da Dera where cooking goes non stop to feed the homeless.He not only feeds the poor, his team of volunteers give milk to hundreds of stray dogs in the city at various points. he feeds countless birds with bajra at various places in delhi. Recently during Bihar floods, Veerji collected essential commodities for flood affected people and sent them there for which Bihar Resident Commissioner issued him Letter OF Appreciation. Veerji also clean Sarovars (Gurudwara ponds). Some of his greatest contributions is rejuvenating biologically dead river Yamuna in Delhi by releasing tons of fish annually into it. He also goes for tree plantation drives. Bhai Trilochan Singh Veerji is retired as technical officer with IARI, Pusa, New DeLhi. KhuswantSingh wrote a coloumn in Tribune newspaper appreciating his work with the article "NO ONE WILL GO HUNGRY" after seeing his volunteers distributing food to pilgrims in SachKhand Express which connects Amritsar to Nanded (the final resting place of 10th Guru, Guru Gobind Singh ji). Staunch Vegetarian, he campaigns for vegetarian world, often goes butcheries and buy animals before slaugther and take them to a Gau Shala where they are given food and taken care of. He was instrumental in laying flooring of the kacha areas of Rakab Gunj, Mata Sundari Gurdwara. The secular nature of his job can be understood when he sends food(vegetable Biryani) for Muslims when they open their Roza in the evening during the fasting month of Ramzan.
